Apprenticeships

Facilities Technician

About the role

Emergency One is looking for a skilled and proactive Facilities Technician to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for maintaining and enhancing the overall functionality, safety, and appearance of our facilities. This role is vital in ensuring that all our operations run smoothly by maintaining everything from garden areas and roadways to plumbing and machinery.

Key Responsibilities 

  • Garden & grounds maintenance: Perform regular grass cutting, weeding, planting, and pruning to maintain garden areas. Repair potholes, create new pathways, lay concrete and curbs, and ensure safe, accessible, and well-maintained roadways and paths.
  • Plumbing: Repair leaks, and replace pipework, taps, basins, toilet seats, urinals, cisterns, and mirrors to ensure a fully operational plumbing system.
  • General housekeeping: Conduct painting of walls, skirtings, ceilings, and doors to maintain the decor and appearance of facilities. Repair door hinges and locks, and ensure doors are closing properly and securely.
  • General building maintenance: Keep buildings weatherproof and structurally sound, maintain main roller doors, and ensure security doors are secure and operational. Install, remove, and replace lighting fixtures, change bulbs, and keep lighting units clean and functional. Regularly check and maintain heating systems to ensure they are operational and efficient.
  • Workshop Upgrades: Assist with the maintenance and movement of workshop machinery. Complete upgrades as and when required.
 

Qualifications & Skills

  • Proven experience in facilities maintenance or a similar role.
  • Some knowledge of maintenance procedures, including plumbing, carpentry, and electrical systems.  
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills.
  • A valid driver’s license is a plus.

Electrician

About the role

Emergency One is seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Electrician to join our team as part of our natural expansion. The ideal candidate will be responsible for installing, maintaining, and repairing electrical systems and components in vehicles, working with high standards to ensure that our vehicles operate safely and efficiently. This role involves interpreting wiring schematics and work instructions, running wiring harnesses, and performing electrical installations and repairs with precision and expertise.

Key Responsibilities

  • Electrical System Installation: Work with wiring schematics to a high standard, interpreting Emergency One (E1) and third-party/supplier instructions and drawings to carry out electrical installations.
  • Wiring and Harness Work: Run wiring harnesses within vehicle chassis and bodywork, using a variety of hand tools and manufacturing equipment to ensure secure and correct installation. Manufacture wiring looms according to supplied schematics.
  • Soldering and Crimping: Perform soldering and crimping of wiring where necessary, ensuring high-quality connections.
  • Tooling and Equipment Use: Utilise various hand tools and workshop equipment safely and effectively.
  • Quality Assurance: Inspect, snag, and finish own work within the allocated timescales, signing off on completed work according to ISO systems and completing in-process inspection documentation.
  • Workplace Maintenance: Maintain a clean and organized workspace, recycling waste materials such as metal, plastic, wiring, and packing materials according to company standards.
  • PPE Compliance: Wear the required personal protective equipment (PPE) for the job function.
 

Qualifications & Skills

  • Proven experience as an Electrician or in a similar role. Candidates with 19th Edition Commercial mains qualification will also be considered.
  • Ability to read and interpret wiring schematics and technical drawings.
  • Proficiency with hand tools, workshop tools, and manufacturing equipment.
  • Excellent attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills.
